Why gamers hate on the Wii
During my stereotypical internet click through for the latest and greatest low-down on gaming, I ran across the latest NPD numbers… GTAIV this, PS3 that, yadda, yadda, yadda. Then, I noticed the top ten Wii games sold newest month. As I perused the list, one Cyclopean sore thumb stuck out at me: Increase Blox in only 9th place? Calm worse than that, were the games that sold more units than Roar Blox, a game that I suppose is one of the best, if not THE best reason to own a Wii.
Checkout the top ten and more ridiculousness, after the grab.
Ok, lets start off with the Wii top ten for April:
1. Mario Kart
2. Wii Fit
3. Wii Frisk w/ Remote
4. Super Smash Bros. Mel
5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Beyond repair c destitute
6. We Ski
7. Game Party
8. Super Mario Galaxy
9. Explode Blox
10. Carnival Games
Most would say that the tabulation above appears to be a pretty skilled list, right? I mean, Wonderful Mario Galaxy, WiiFit, SSBB and Mario Kart are all ordinarily know to be better than mean games. Here’s the problem: they’re all beginning party titles. They’re all made by Nintendo. Third fete games are getting killed on the platform.
The NPD numbers for Growth Blox indicate that for April, Wii owners bought merely 60,000 copies of the game. For a process with an estimated install secure of about 10 million users in the U.S., that’s an place rate of .06. (Gamedaily). That’s a piddling amount for a great family trick that should appeal to everybody. This gutsy should be a million seller, but it won’t get there, assuring an near the start demise for a game that should suffer with been a great franchise for EA and all but assured Wii gamers that inventive minds like Steven Spielberg would resume to make games for the platform.
